I arrived in Spain yesterday, Juanjo has been here for two weeks. A spring visit to the family. As I write this Juanjo is lounging on the couch with his dad watching a soccer game. True happiness for both of them!
Today was a beautiful, warm spring day. We took a walk in the park near their house, under pine trees and open blue sky. The clouds seem somehow more beautiful here. Spotting the sky in bits of white and gray. The sun feels hotter and brighter too. It must have something to do with being up at 500 feet on a plateau.
My flight to Frankfurt was delayed, and I missed my connecting flight and arrived hours later than I should have. Once I got here and had had some food, Juanjo and I went out for a while to see his uncle, and have a coffee at a hotel cafe above the city. Here we are on the terrace of the cafe (Christina, I promised you more pictures this time!)….with me looking just about as jet-lagged as I felt!
The plan for tomorrow is to see Grandma, get some work done, and take another walk through the woods near the house. I’m thinking of running, as I’m considering training to run the San Francisco half-marathon in July (have spent the last hour looking at training schedules!). Later this week we’ll probably do some wedding planning as well!
So good to be here among family. To see how happy it makes Juanjo’s parents to have us here. To be a part of such a loving family.
Congratulations you guys! We’ll come to Spain if you want 3.5 more English speakers.
Hooray – I hope you do run the SF half marathon!
